Hendrik van der Poel was born on 20 May 1996 in Ede (Gelderland). After High school, he followed a study at HMC Amsterdam to become a furniture maker. There he chose to specialise to become a craft furniture maker. Hendrik concentrated on wooden instrument building and conservation. In this context, he has done serveral internships at various organbuilders, including orgelmakers Gebroeders van Vulpen (www.vulpen-orgel.nl), orgelmakerij Boogaard (www.orgelmakerijboogaard.nl) and Klop Organs & Harpsichords (klop.info/welkom-bij-klop). He did his internships at Carpentry and Construction Fred Mensink (www.fredmensink.nl) and at Furniture workshop De Klomp (interieurenmeubelwerkplaatsdeklomp.nl). From September 2013 to June 2015, during his spare time, Hendrik followed training at The Guild of Volunteer Millers to be a volunteer miller. Hendrik studied wood carving/sculptor at Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. As of September 2016 he is studying furniture conservation at West Dean College in the UK.
